The Smartphone users count increasing day by day. The most of the essential things like online banking, mobile banking, email, online purchase, searching and many entertainment things like gaming, Facebook, Twitter, etc., are carried out by the use of Smartphones today.
But some study reports warns about the smart phone’s security risks. The recent smartphones contain almost 25 sensors such as a gyroscope, proximity sensor, NFC, rotational sensors, Motion sensors, accelerometer and well-known sensors like GPS, camera and much more. These sensors place a vital role in booming Internet of Things (IoT), Mobile Gaming and Other Apps.
PIN Type Password:
Using the inbuilt smartphone sensors it is possible to crack the four-digit PINs in the first guess with 70% of accuracy. Also, 100% it can be cracked within the 5th guess – given by Cyber experts at Newcastle University, UK.
Most of the people thought that having fingerprint sensor type password or prying eye type may be most security. The latest edition of IEEE Transaction of Information Forensics & Security gives that, “Fingerprints can have multiple patterns. They can bypass by 65% of times. Unlike the original scanners, the smartphone uses master prints. These master prints take the miniature size. Since the size is too small, smartphone systems are designed to match a partial portion. And also most of the system allows storing more than one finger prints”. By this, researchers said it is much greater possibility for false matching.
Pattern lock type password also can be cracked using computer vision algorithm. And a study report states that comparative to simple pattern locks, complicated design locks can be easily broken by some analysis. Even some persons/Thief may observe our password (Like the pattern, PIN) by our movements while unlocking our passwords. And by probability, they can easily find out these kinds of passwords.
Some other passwords like facial unlock also had some problems. Also, some malware may act as a spy while the phone is locked when it is not closed in the browser Tab. By the whole, Smartphones have some serious issues related to security. The technology has to battle against these security Risks highly. So, Once again I am telling, “Be aware! While using your smartphone”.
